About

Shipra Gandhi

There is a Chinese saying: “If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.” For centuries it is believed, “Happiness is found in helping others.” On our quest for happiness and inner peace, we incepted Spreading Happiness I take this opportunity to introduce myself – I am Shipra Gandhi, the founder of Spreading Happiness. My voyage of spreading happiness started in the year 2018. There was a desire to do something, to create a difference. What? Was the question. I started with a small act, and it gave me kick – immense happiness and the quench for more. I started by sponsoring a “Mehendi Function” at an orphan’s wedding. While the function was going on, I felt a zeal of enthusiasm, contentment, and joy amongst the children. They were so happy, dancing and enjoying. To my surprise, most of them wrote my name on their hand with mehendi. That very moment, I realized that I along with my friends were Spreading Happiness. That night, I couldn’t sleep probably because I was very happy, that I could do something for those wonderful children who deserved to be happy. I decided that I want to do as much as possible for those in need. Gradually, we started Spreading more and more Happiness. We are not an NGO, neither we are a registered organisation. To simply put, Spreading Happiness is a passion to bring smiles on faces, to ignite hope and to add value to people’s lives. At Spreading Happiness, we feed the hungry every day, we provide groceries, sponsor surgeries, organise medical camps, fund education, sponsor wedding for the Orphans and lots more. We believe, it is not how much we give, but how much love we put into giving that makes the difference. As it is rightly said, “selfless giving becomes overwhelming.” we were blessed to contribute vehicles for serving food to needy, clothes to the needy, wheel chairs at cancer hospitals, and an Ambulance for needy people who cannot afford paying for it. Over a period of time, we got connected to Hospitals and started serving them, we started sponsoring for surgeries. We always believed, "Inki Dua Kabhi Khaali Nai Jaati". When we started getting requests from Transgenders, we were blessed that we were able to fulfil them and we are still trying our best to help as much as possible. We make every effort to reach out to as many people as possible, in so doing, we do not confine ourselves to Hyderabad lone, but we reach out to tribal villages and rural areas with the help of a few organizations. We have been fortunate to be a part of "Beti ki Shaadi" where nine orphan daughters got married under one-roof at a time. The most tough time was the first lockdown during covid, where people were not at all prepared and the weaker section of the society were dying of hunger. That was when we started with distribution of cooked food to the real needy and by God’s grace, we are continuing it till date. People did not have groceries and we started providing groceries to them. We encourage “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” and hence, we have also helped people by providing them jobs and settling their careers by things that they needed for their start-ups. Apart from Spreading Happiness, I was a moderator for All India Plasma Donors group, where we used to arrange Plasma free-of-cost to covid affected people all over India. Today, we try our best to arrange blood for the people who need it. We are blessed to be connected with many genuine organizations, who share similar vision of “spreading happiness” and we enthusiastically jump over to help where ever there is need. These four years is a reflection of selflessness, honesty, unbiased service – without discrimination - helping the needy, especially abled, transgenders, aged people and all kind of people who genuinely need help for their survival. This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the support of our donors, associates, team members, and family. They our biggest support and whatever I am able to do is just because of them. Trust me, it has been a very beautiful journey and we hope for a much more beautiful journey ahead. Thanking You, Doctor Shipra Gandhi
